New Delhi: An earthquake tremors were felt in Indian capital and its suburbs Monday afternoon. The epicentre was in the Haryana-Delhi border region, the Indian Meteorological Department said.Residents and office-goers in many areas in Delhi as well as Gurgaon and Noida felt the temblor.
Initial reports placed the earthquake's magnitude between 4.9 and 5.2 on the Richter scale.In Delhi, some cellphone networks went down for a bit.
As a precautionary measure, high rise buildings in Gurgaon were evacuated to avoid any loss of life.The tremors were also felt in states like Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and UP.
